The showForm and hideForm methods handle the displaying and hiding of frmReport to the user. The processToolbar method processes all user interaction with the Toolbar control on frmReport. If you don't have a Toolbar control on your form, you can ignore this method. (But review the code in it in order to properly implement similar code in your application. The methods setAccessReporting, setCrystalReporting, and setRichTextReporting make it convenient for localizing the special ReportController behaviors that are specific to each reporting implementation. That way, when you discover errors related to a particular implementation object not being set or something related to the initiating of a particular reporting implementation, you simply review the code in these methods first to find your likely suspects. |

The updateProgress method is responsible for updating the user with the latest information on how far into the process of opening and/or printing the report the application has gone. This method can also be helpful to you in debugging the application. The argument, argProgressUnit, represents the numeric unit that represents the current item being processed. Generally, the unit will be a record. It is used in a loop that processes many records. The argMessage argument, which is optional, is used to provide the actual text message to display to the user in one of the Status Panel's Panel controls. It is optional because you generally need to set the message only once per process loop (typically at the beginning). The same is true of the argProgressTotal argument. It represents the total number of units being processed. Thus, if you display to the user a message like |
